Hnn could you imagine.. a suit embroidered with baroque pearls… a LACE CAPE gently floating behind the groom… a fuckin sword..
oh my god…. your m i n d…. the wedding industry is quaking
Meanwhile in Scotland…
YO, there are SO MANY great groom outfits around the world where he is dressed all in silk, lace, gold, pearls and glitter, with capes and scarves, hats and stitchery and I find it so sad that most of these countries switch over to “suit”. Like, look at these handsome boys!

and that no one wants or needs to wear this particular clothing in weddings, though i must admit it’s quite sad. turkey in its history had connectings with so many different cultures and it’s already so diverse in itself that it’s impossible to assess one single turkish style, but seeing it only on history book pages and on tv shows is really quite heartbreaking

and people from different regions of the turkey had really distinctive clothing styles due to different weather conditions, and most of them were only peasant’s clothes so it’s hard to say they had a very unique style for grooms. even the ones that may still exist are seen probably only in very limited areas around different corners of turkey. i’m not saying the picture here is not groom’s traditional turkish clothing but that it comes from centuries ago and it’s mixed with other cultures as wel

during the last centuries of the ottoman empire as the control over the penincula got weaker and weaker, the effect on the culture of turkish people also started to fade and this was further stimulated by the rulers. also these clothes were so expensive that it would be silly to assume that most people living in villages were able to afford them. and after the fall of the ottoman empire, these rare caftans got even more extinct that now they can only be seen in either museums or film sets

the turkey one is from a tv show called the magnificent century which is about ottoman empire during 16th century. it may somehow count as a traditional clothing but in the 19th century, rulers generally wrote laws that promoted and modernist’ clothes i.e. pants and jackets instead of caftans and made them official uniforms. besides caftans etc are not exactly turkish culture but they’re also coming from arabian peninsula as well.
